Principal's Message
Kristin Burke
Welcome to Lawrenceville Elementary School (LES)! We are a nurturing and innovative school community that provides extraordinary learning experiences for students ranging in age from pre-K to third grade.
We prioritize academic excellence while also supporting the social and emotional development of our students. We are dedicated to creating an environment where every child feels valued, respected, and connected. Each year, our school theme and SMART goals reflect our district strategic plan. This plan is centered around three main components:
-
Wellness
-
Student Achievement
-
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Our school motto is, “Do Your Best, Nothing LESs!” Our goal is to help our students reach their full potential and to prepare them for a rapidly changing world by providing a solid foundation. Our dedicated staff work hard every day to help shape the future of our students by promoting a growth mindset and mindfulness practices. One of the ways we create a positive and inclusive learning environment is through Responsive Classroom and Second Step. These research-based educational frameworks emphasize the importance of social-emotional learning, academic growth, and a strong school community.
Our rigorous instructional program is stimulating and comprehensive, promoting exploration and innovation. We teach core academic subjects, special area subjects, and computer science and design thinking. Unique to LES is our beautiful and bountiful award-winning garden. Under the extraordinary guidance of a local farm educator, our students plant, harvest, and eat the crops grown in our own garden.
We are proud and honored to have been recognized as a National School of Character. Our CARE Kids (Children Acting Responsibly Everyday) are made up of third-graders who are interested in serving their community through service-learning projects. You will often see our CARE Kids performing good deeds in our school, district, and throughout the community at large. We are also host to the first elementary Makerspace in our district. This space is one of many areas at LES where we promote the opportunity to learn and grow by using hands-on projects and technology. We use the design-thinking process to guide our learning and cultivate higher order thinking. A highlight in our Makerspace is an interactive Lego wall.
Through the partnership of staff, families and the community, our students develop a lifelong commitment to learning, productive living, and responsible behavior.
